Christmas Tag | 2018

Hi, there!

I know that November passed and yet there were no posts and for that I'm sorry. Like I said in this post, school has been harder than expected and I've been having a hard time managing it all.
I thought it'd be cool to do a Christmas post of sorts and a fellow Canadian blogger did a tag post and so I've never done one so I wanted to try it out!

What Happened in October | Life update

Hello to all.

As you can see it has been over a month since I last wrote and published a post. It was not my intention to ignore this blog, it's just that life has been harder than what I expected. As you may know, I started university this fall and it is very difficult for me and my schedule had been so busy that I felt that there was a never-ending cycle of reading and writing. I started feeling not only stressed out but anxious too. And so for the sake of my mental health, I decided to take a break from blogging.

It's September | Life Update + Biore mini review

Hey guys!
I feel like it's been soo long since I last wrote. I've barely had any time to write or just have any me-time overall. This past week I started university and it has been such a life change! I'll finish reading then bam! another book to read and the cycle goes on and on. I've been missing my blog so much the last couple of weeks since I haven't had time for anything. My commute is very long and so I have decided that on my way back I should try to write.
On a positive note: I'm a university student! I can hardly believe it, it feels like yesterday I was starting high school and now I'm on the next chapter of my life. I've met new people and have been getting to know the campus and just getting used to the new part of my life. I have so many blog plans for the next couple of months and I can't wait. Do you guys have any advice for a new university student? Must-dos and don'ts?

I know you must be wondering: doesn't the title say mini review? Why doesn't she just get on with it?

Summer Holidays | Week 3 + 4

So, you probably noticed that I didn't do a weekly summary for week 3. The reason why is that I didn't do anything exciting or out of the ordinary. I actually spent 3/4 week inside. But there were some things that happened worth mentioning.
The last weekend in July I went to Toronto for a conference and afterward went down to Niagara Falls. It was gorgeous and I will write a post on it soon. Unfortunately, there was one casualty... my water bottle, I put it down then promptly forgot about it. Therefore I lost it *sigh*

Last week it was my 19th birthday!
That Monday was very hot. humid day. My parents got the cake from Adonis and it tasted like heaven. Their cakes are worth trying, but that day I also bought a cheese from them and when I had eaten 1/3 of it I started feeling queasy and nauseous.

BzzAgent: P & G Product Review | The Cami Way

I love free products, don't you?
For those who do not know, I have a review blog (fashion, film, products) and I keep it separate from this blog. I have been thinking of joining the two together but I'm not sure if I should. It's called The Cami Way, in part because my family always say that I do things my way.
Earlier this year I joined BzzAgent, a program that will send products based on your interests and on the product campaign. Last month (June) I got my first campaign and I couldn't believe I had been accepted into it. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you have probably already seen the posts I did review the products, but I also wrote a post on them.
Here is an excerpt:

*Disclaimer: The opinions and thoughts expressed in this blog are solely my own. I was given these products for an honest review and were not influenced by the company in any way, shape or form.*
I received more than I expected and was ecstatic to put them to work.

It's the End (of June, that is)

Well, half the year is now gone and I have done both so much and so little.
The day after tomorrow it's Canada day! That means it's been a year since I moved to Quebec, wow, where has the time gone? My family and I are going to be having a small get together to celebrate. I will (obviously) be baking a cake and will be on decorating duty. Is there anything special you do for Canada day?

This week I did my final Francisation exam and finished my level 4 French! There are 8 government French levels and so I am half-way there. That's right your girl knows how to speak enough French to get a job, well enough to have a conversation with others and still be understood. Fortunately (or unfortunately)  I won't' be going back as I will be starting university this coming September. Since it's all in English and downtown Montreal is mostly English, I won't' have to use too much French.

6 (Awesome) Reasons I LOVE sewing

Hey, hey, hey!
This past week as I was thinking a thought passed through my head: Why do I love sewing? How did this come to be? And after thinking long and hard about it I wrote a list and it essentially helped write this post.
I have been sewing since I was 14, but I have never been able to pinpoint why sewing has been a big part of my life. When I was a child my mom used to sew my clothes for me and our family but when she stopped (it got expensive) I never thought twice about it. But as I got older I become more interested but soon I came to love it. This is a post of 6 reasons why LOVE sewing ✂ and why you could too.

It's June!

We are halfway through the year, can you believe that? It feels like yesterday that I started this blog. Thank you for being with me on this journey. This past weekend I have finished sewing something that been on my to-do list for the last 6 months (!!).

I had a dress I got about 1 1/2 years ago but never got to wear it because it was way, way too long.

What am I Knitting Right now?

Ottawa!!!
So lately I have felt like knitting and doing something with yarn. After thinking long and hard about what to do (it is almost summer so no scarfs etc.) I decided on making a knit top. It is very simple as it uses 4 different stitches and it is 2 squares sewn together to make the top.

2017 Accomplishments

Hi guys!
I can not believe its 13 days til Christmas!!! (eek, where did time go?) Now that the year is closing up, I want to look back on the past 12 months and what happened in my life.

Accomplishments in 2017

  • This year in AB Skills Competition I made it to provincials after winning regionals. It was five hours away but I had a great time. My friends were in different categories while I was the one in Fashion Technology, feeling unprepared and terrified. Though I didn't win, I did enjoy myself and am proud of the fact that I was able to almost finish (pattern drafting, cutting, sewing)  a trenchcoat jacket in 12 hours! I learned how to manage my time and not to let a minor thing stop me from moving forward.
  • In 2017 I got my high school diploma! After 4 years of hard work, stress, and tears I graduated and got to wear a fancy dress. I'm done, yay!
  • Though it isn't anything exciting, I am proud of the fact that I have become more independent. I do volunteer work, I go out in the city all by myself in public transportation.

Regrets?

The only regrets I have is not fully learning Portuguese and Russian. It's not that I didn't have time, it just was that I had "better" things todo. I regret not doing better in school, even though I had a hard time. But that is all in the past now, now I have to look towards the future.

2018 plans

My plans for 2018 revolve around school. I hope to be accepted into university, and be able to start my undergrad. I hope to do well in French, now that I'm going to French classes. Maybe win the lottery???  I just hope that 2018 will be the year that I outdo myself and become someone my parents are proud of.

My time is almost up, so I want to know:  what are your accomplishment this year? was it anything special or something simple? Any regrets? what are your plans for the future?

P.S. Do you guys want to see more content like this or what do you think.

Life Lesson Learned

The big life lesson I learned in 2017 was: Gratitude.
To be grateful in whichever situation I happen to find myself in. 2017 was full of moments (hours, days, months)where I was in unusual situations where I would have preferred
not to be in the first place. It was difficult but I knew that it could always be much, much worse.

Gratefulness- the lesson I learned in 2017.

Here are a couple that happened this year:

  • Less than a week before the Grand March (prom in AB) the zipper in my dress broke. Now that I look back and think about those days and I think to myself: wow, how foolish to be worrying about something so insignificant. It seemed like a big deal for I was to walk in front of 1000+ people. In the end, I had to hand sew an invisible zipper, but now I have experience (lol).
  • Days before Canada Day we finished packing and set ourselves on our way to Quebec. It was hard for everyone especially for me. Leave behind everything we knew to go to a strange 'foreign' place. Now I think that it could have been much worse, we could've moved to another country or lost all our things in the move. I am grateful that we had a place to arrive (even though we felt a bit unwelcomed) and we spoke English which meant we could communicate still.
  • In November on my way to Brockville, I had an anxiety attack and could not breathe, the paramedics were called and I was let go (thankfully no hospital visit). Now that contemplate this past event I am grateful that I did not pass out from my lack of oxygen. Grateful that the paramedics were so kind and nonjudgemental about my situation.

Overall this year I learned to be grateful for it could always be much more severe. Being grateful takes away the worries and helplessness that come in certain situations. Gratitude helps you learn to be content in whatever situation might arise from hardship.

What were you grateful for this year? Was there a lesson you learned from in 2017? What do you hope to learn in 2018?
See you next time.

for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1
